Wildflower meadow grant

Your Community Council has asked for the open area between Braid Square and New City Road to be designated as Woodside Park and saved as greenspace for sport and recreation. We hope to prevent development on the land which is the only large open space in this densely populated corner of Glasgow.

As part of this aim your Community Council applied for and received a grant of £5,000 for the establishment of wildflower meadow areas in parts of the Park. These are designed to assist in the preservation of our threatened honey bee population and add colour to our environement. It is hoped to complete the ground preparation work in November with wild flower seeding in March next year. The works will be undertaken by the City Council Land Services department.
