Woodside Community Council was approached by Scottish Television in relation to a request for local information. After a conversation with our Chair, Jacqueline McKie, Scottish Television agreed to include a programme about the Andrew Carnegie donated, Woodside Library.
The Scottish Television programme will explore the rich history of the library, including interviews with Dr Jenny Peachey, Carnegie Trust UK and from Lynsey, archivist, City Archives, Mitchell Library.
As demonstrated by this programme, our local library is as relevant today as when it was built, fulfilling a much needed service delivered by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff at Woodside Library.
We hope you enjoy the programme which was filmed today, Thursday 21st April 2016 and will be broadcast this evening, so please tune in to learn more about this wonderful local asset, broadcast details below:
Scottish Television Live at Five Between 5 – 6pm Date: Thursday, 21st April 2016*
Finally, this programme was only possible by working in partnership with Glasgow Life who wholeheartedly embraced the idea and showcased their amazing archive material which is available to view at the Mitchell library.
Thanks must also go to Jenny and Lynsey who each succinctly imparted such interesting facts about the history and relevance of libraries, past and present and, of course, Scottish Television for making it all possible.
This Woodside Library programme will be broadcast again. We’ll post details here and on Facebook and Twitter when dates are confirmed. Our Chair also aims to promote other aspects of the rich history of Ward 11, so keep checking our website for future updates and collaborations with Scottish Television.
