A formal Planning Application has now been submitted by Glasgow City Council for permission to construct a new Homeless Persons unit on the vacant ground in Rodney Street opposite the NCS offices. The proposed building is for class 8 use and comprises 30 studio flats with common areas and is designed as accommodation with supervision for homeless persons on the way to full rehabilitation. This is intended to replace the temporary facility at present proposed for Burnbank Gardens.
Details of the planning application and how to comment can be viewed online at the website below by entering the application number 14/01629/DC into the search box : https://publicaccess.glasgow.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application
This proposal is not considered as a ‘major development’ by planning officials so there will be no pre-application consultation or exhibition. The Design architects are targeting the Planning Applications Committee on 19th September for a decision.
