Work to repair the cracks in the pool at North Woodside Leisure Centre is progressing smoothly. The problem became apparent when refilling the pool after repairs to the storm damaged roof and full internal redecoration had been completed. Water was leaking from the pool at the rate of 25 tons per day.
Glasgow Life have employed specialist contractors to seal the leak and retile the pool area at a cost of £300k. The solution means that the new pool will be slightly smaller and shallower than before but more suited to activities such as swimming lessons.
The pool along with the presently inaccessible shower areas will be open to the public again in late April 2014. By that time this fabulous Victorian facility which is the oldest municipal baths in Britain will have been closed for two years.
