Lansdowne Church Meeting

lansdowne_church.jpgAt a public meeting held in Lansdowne Parish Church on 17th May the building alterations planned by the Four Acre Charitable Trust (FACT) were put on display. The proposed changes, including a cafe bar in the area presently used as bedrooms, were explained to an audience of approximately sixty interested Woodside residents and parishioners by the Reverend Roy Henderson and by Mr David Robertson who is projects director of FACT.

Concerns were raised regarding noise pollution from smokers late at night and about the possibility of an external beer garden to the rear. The likelihood of the church remaining active in the Presbytery of Glasgow was also discussed by Rev Henderson.

In the meantime the famous Alf Webster stained glass window in the south elevation is being removed for restoration and safe keeping, and a grant of £50,000 has been approved for investigation of the church building fabric. Interested residents can contact FACT at 59 Havelock Street or by phone on 0141 339 9407 for more information.
