Festive Switch-on

In a colourful and crowded little ceremony on 25th November the principal intersection of our community at last received some festive illumination.  Carols were sung by children from Cowcaddens, Garscube and Woodside Nurseries and  by pupils from  Oakgrove and St Joseph's schools. Then after an excited countdown the festive lights at St Georges Cross were switched on by Community Council chairman Peter Wilson. 

Short speeches were made by City Councillor George Roberts and Community Council secretary Alan Lee thanking all involved in the three year battle to get the festive lights for our neighbourhood, and to all who helped in the organisation of the countdown and switch-on ceremony.  Your Community Council is now working to ensure that this becomes an annual event.
