Review of parking controls

Glasgow City Council Roads Committee was presented on 2nd May with a review of the Parking Controls recently introduced to the west end including Woodside.

In it the Director of Land Services proposed amendments to the scheme including additional provision for business parking, reduction of controlled times to Monday to Friday 8 am to 6 pm in some areas including Woodside, approval of permits to some buildings redeveloped after 2000 and the introduction of controls to Cromwell and Burnbank on the edge of the Napiershall zone.

The remainder of Napiershall zone was to be left uncontrolled but a vigorous presentation was made of the difficulty caused to residents of Holyrood, Lansdowne and Wilton by displacement parking of commuters from the controlled areas by Councillors Mason and McKechnie.

After some discussion the Chairman instructed the Director to address this problem in the orders to be made which amend the scheme.

These have to be properly advertised with consultation and will not be ready until the end of 2006.
